These cute wood cut outs from Dollar Tree are leftover from another DIY.  I couldn’t let these cuties just sit in my stash until next year, so I’m using them up.  I hope you love this project, and will give it a try.  Even the most beginner crafters can do it!!

SUPPLIES:

Gingerbread Cutouts from Dollar Tree

5 ½” Wood Square from DT

White paint

Brown Paint

Black paint pen or permanent marker- fine tip

Red Paint pen or permanent marker-fine tip

Ribbon or choice

Stick from outside

Hot Glue/ Tacky or wood glue

Jute for hangar- optional

Instructions:

STEP 1

Stain wood square brown with wet baby wipe, and allow to dry

STEP 2

Paint wood square with 1 thin coat of white paint and allow to dry

STEP 3

Sand edges and other areas to distress then seal with a coat of mod podge

STEP 4

Paint 6 wood gingerbread men brown and allow to dry

STEP 5

Sand edges of each gingie to distress

STEP 6

Use black marker to draw eyes and buttons

Use red marker to draw mouth

STEP 7

Seal all 6 gingies with modpodge

STEP 8

Tie some ribbon around each neck.  I didn’t have any thin enough ribbon, so I cut some lengthwise to create a thin strip.

STEP 9

Arrange gingies on board in the shape of a tree and use hot glue or a combo of hot glue and wood glue to secure in place.  I used Alene’s tacky glue because I ran out of wood glue.

STEP 10

Cut a stick to create the trunk and hot glue into place at the bottom of tree

STEP 11

Add a bow to the top.

*if your wood piece doesn’t stand up, add a jute hangar to hang it,  or glue a small tumbling block to the back so it can stand

This adorable piece is perfect for a tiered tray or small decorative ladder, or any space that needs a sweet addition.

Thanks for joining me, and I hope you’ll give it a try.

Lisa xo
